Where to Eat in Bend

Early Morning to Late Night and Everything in Between

Some lucky eaters are getting thisIt only seems like Bend has roughly one restaurant for every four residents (really, it's more like six).  Some of the finest chefs in the nation have come to Bend to open restaurants, and as a result, you have an amazingly diverse and vibrant restaurant scene.

No matter what you're looking for, odds are you'll find it in Bend.  The Deschutes Brewery brewpub in Downtown Bend offers above average pub fare to go with their famous microbrews.  If you'd like world-class pizza, Pizza Mondo has the best New York-style pizza you'll find outside of Gotham, or, staying in an Italian vein, Trattoria Sbandati is the finest Italian cuisine in town.  If it's a juicy steak you're after, The Blacksmith Restaurant and The Jackalope Grill are excellent choices.  Mediterranean cuisine is well represented by Joolz, combining the tastes of Mediterranean and the American Southwest, and the award-winning Ariana.

The best of Bend's restaurant sceneIf it's a hearty breakfast you seek before hitting the slopes, The Victorian Cafe has long been a favorite of locals and visitors alike.  Located on the corner of Galveston Avenue and Century Drive, it's a frequent first stop for many powder hounds.  Closer to Downtown Bend, Alpenglow Cafe offers hearty local fare and nice prices.  However, if it's a truly monstrous meal you seek, and you don't mind the drive east of town, Jake's Diner has long been lauded by locals for providing giant portions for surprisingly little cash.

Maybe you just want to start a day of shopping with a steaming hot latte and a scone.  It should come as no surprise that Bend has many great coffeehouses as well.  Personal favorites include Thump Coffee and Bellatazza in Downtown Bend, Strictly Organic in The Old Mill, Backporch and Jackson's Corner on Bend's west side and, if a spot of tea is more to your liking, the Teahouse.

Dinner at JoolzIf a hearty lunch is what you're looking for while hitting the stores, your options are wide, varied and uniformly good.  If a burger is what you wish, check out the Bend Burger Company or McMenamin's.  Baldy's Barbecue is the best spot in the area for barbecue, but if your tastes trend to the more exotic, Cafe Sintra, Typhoon and Taj Majal offer exotic Mediterranean and Asian cuisines at affordable prices.

Truly, Bend has something for everyone's palate.  You just need to know where to look.
